To do list for the hour.

There is so much on my mind...

1. I need to study for my lovely praxis test..(stressed to max about that)
2. I need to make definite plans on my vacations this summer.
3. I need to do some major organization in my life.
4. I NEED to eat healthy. And run/ work out. (Day 1 again..wish me luck!)
5. I have so much laundry I need to do..
6. Homework.(Oh how that will never ever end)
7. So much more... but my wrist hurts from typing in this splint.

These last couple days I realized I need to really prioritize, and organize my life so much better.
I need to focus on what I want.

I have been a complete "music junkie" as of the last 2 days.
I seriously don't know why? Or what is wrong with me. But I love it.
I have so much on my mind but I'm off to studying for this darn praxis test.

PS. It is a 50% pass rate.
Cool praxis test makers. Reaaal Cool.

Maxi Skirts & Emergency Room visits. Go figure.

"With every negative you need to start with a positive first"

This concept is stressed to me every day in my Education Classes...;)

With that being said. Lets talk about a positive subject.

Shopping.
Ever since I was seriously so little, I enjoyed shopping. Loved shopping. Seriously, I love going to stores. Shopping is seriously MY therapy. It really makes me happy. What is better then being in a bad mood and then...seeing a flash of a bright pink shirt? Nothing. Or a mint green necklace? Seriously, People. I love it.
I love shopping all around for the "best item" or better yet.. finding different articles of clothing, and putting them all together. Well this particular day I wanted to scout out the best maxi skirts. And what is better then having some retail therapy after a couple die hard stressful weeks? Nothing.

Now, this whole "Maxi Skirt Fad"here in Utah has been going on for some time now.  I totally thought they are adorable. But maybe not for me. Until.. I came across this Instagram picture of this adorable, I mean ADOOOORAAABBBLE MAXI. I became in love. Did my research. And contacted who sold them. It was a company that goes to peoples' houses. So I was off to some random woman's' house to check these Maxi's out. Ended up that they were the cutest skirts I have ever seen. so colorful and spring-yyy.  I bought 12. 12. Twelve. I really couldn't pick. I have a problem. A serious problem people.
After that I ended up buying some cute necklaces to go with them. Ate dinner at Olive Garden (Seriously, can not consume enough of their salad) and came home, feeling lucky and happy.

Ps.....The company is called Honey and Lace.. I HIGHLY recommend them. Check them out.

^^^^
Okay that is the positive.

So I walked in the front door (so happy from my shopping purchases/retail therapy) said hi to my crazy dogs jumping all over me...and began to go down the stairs...
That's when IT happened.
BOOM.
I somehow managed to fall down all the stairs. I had probably 12 full shopping bags in my hand and my ginormous purse on my shoulder... Well I ended up crying historically ( did I mention this was the only day I didn't put on my water proof mascara??) story of my life. My left arm was literally deformed curld up by my chest.

Every time I would look at my arm I would want to throw up and cry more and more. I went to the Emergency Room where they told me my arm was " temporarily paralyzed" and HOPEFULLY in six weeks it would come out of it. They made me do all sorts of crazy arm movements...which hurt like crazy. They also said nothing else was wrong with my arm...weird.

I knew that wasn't right. I went to an orthopedic doctor the next day and found out I fractured two bones in my wrist. Temporarily paralyzed my arm and the nerves that go from my armpit to my fingers was terribly bruised causing all these gross bruises up and down my arm. AND GET THIS the exercises the nurse in the emergency room was doing to my arm the night before did not help my arm... It HURT IT! Such a joke haha. Anyway I have this splint on my arm now. If my fracture is worse then I will need a cast for six weeks... did I mention I can't do my makeup/hair/ yet alone put pants on (good thing I bought all those skirts the night of the fall;)) hopefully I won't need a cast..
( My mom thought she was so funny taking pictures of my 2am emergency visit....:/)

(The bones that are fractured are connected to the bottom of my thumb.. which calls for a weird cast.. You would be surprised how many people ask if my thumb was amputated. Awkward Conversation.. Let me tell you.)

I have had this stupid cast thing on for a week. It is crazy to me how people react to it. Like yes it is just a simple cast.. yet the way people treat me honestly cracks me up. But that is another blog post.....;)

Scariest moment in my life..

If you know me, you know I am the biggest scaredy cat in the world. I am scared of SO many things..Sharks/Oceans/Bugs/SPIDERS/bears/killers/burglars/ rapists/getting sick/germs, and a million others..
All my life I have always had these fears, I think it goes back to all my "scary" experiences I have delt with.

When I was 4 years old I got lost at the Discovery Center. My mom took my brother to the car because he wasn't feeling good. My dad was suposde to be in charge of me. He thought my mom took me back to the car as well.. But really I had wandered off to look at the electricity center. My dad walked about 10 minutes away to bring some food back to the car. Little did he know I was lost on the top level of the Discovery Center. Long Story short. I was to scared to ask for help (Because I didn't want anyone to kidknap me) So I wandered the Discovery Center for an hour.  It was awful. I remember talking to God as I walked around the center, asking him to help me find my family. I remember it so clear to this day.

When I was 9 years old, my mom picked me up from Elementary school early, and I could tell something was wrong. She told me that 3 men broke into my house in the middle of the afternoon. I was terrified. People broke into my house? They didn't steal anything? What did they want? As my mom pulled into our drieway I was even more freaked out. Yellow tape everywhere. Policemen all outside my house. Police Cars all down my street. No one had any answers of why those men broke in. Days passed, and we were allowed back into our house. The men were never found, and that scared me even more. Every day since that day, I am scared to death of break ins. I remember constantly praying that those men broke in the wrong house, and would never come back.

When I was 15 years old I went downtown with some of my friends. We got lost and couldnt find where we parked. Hours passed, and it became very late. We found the area we parked finally, and only had a 10 minute walk back to my friends' car. We were 5 minutes away from getting to our car, when I felt like we should run. Some may say I was crazy, or that I just wanted to run, but knowing what I know, and knew then, I knew it was the spirit. So I panicked and told all my friends that we had to run fast to our car. I took off running (I am sure I looked crazy) but thanksfully my friends sprinted as well..At that moment I didn't know why I was running? I didn't know who I was running from? And I definitely didn't know why God was telling me to run. A minute after we started running, again I felt like I should look to my left. As I turned around and looked to my left, I saw a clearly unstable woman..with a big knife. The kind you see in movies. As I saw this woman, I felt calm. My friends freaked out and cried and could barely run, however I felt extreme comfort knowing I would be safe. We all made it back to the car. Thanks heavens no one was hurt.

When I was 16 years old my mom, brother, grandparents and I  moved. Being an insecure, overweight, teen in highschool...is hard. But, I had friends. When I was told we were going to move, I was petrified. Many nights for years laying, having no plans, sad, depressed. I would pray to my Hevanly Father asking him for things. Without prayer I know without a doubt I wouldn'y be as happy here as I am today.

Today..topped everything. I always say my prayers on the way to school in the morning. I find it such a good time to talk to my Heavenly father, and thank him. The last couple mornings I have somehow forgot to pray in the mornings. This morning it hit me. "Ashley pray to be safe on your way to school." I really didn't think anything of it AT ALL. I always pray to be kept safe. Little did I know that that praywe probably saved my life. So I said a way meaningful prayer, and continued on with my drive. 10 minutes or so later on the highway I heard a loud motor coming my way. I was in the far left lane, and saw the car infront of me veer so fast to the small sholder of the road. I looked to my right and I saw a car going SO FAST pull right infront of me. It was awful. So this is what happened. I was driving in the far left lane. A car came off the off ramp(the farthest right lane) and instead of just merging into the lane that  he was suposde to go..he totally jerked his car, cut through all 4 lanes and flew right infront of my car. The car infront of me saw the car coming her way moments before me, so she took the side of the road. I couldn't pull to the side or I would hit the car infront of me. I couldn't pull to the right or I would hit the car to my right. So I slammed on my breaks shaking in pure shock. My car like heated up and smoke came out of my car making it so awful to even see during those 5 seconds I was pushing as hard as I could on the breaks. I remember in those 5 seconds I looked and saw the crazy car passing infront of me, and looking behind me and seeing a huge truck centimeters away from rearending me.Hard.

The car flew right past me mabye at most a foot away from my car and hit the side of the sholder and spon?spin?spinned? haha "whatever the word its", anyway the car made  a million circles and stopped. The Truck behind me got hit by the car behind him..I was in total shock.

I am so greatful to my Heavenly Father for watching over me. These last couple weeks have been just "differnt" for me. Experiencing emotions I have never felt, dealing with obstacles, trials, new experiences. Sometimes I get so sidetracked with life I forget who/and what matters most. I am so thankful that my Father in Heaven humbles me, and helps show me how precious things are.

..Life is Beautiful..
Your life is Beautiful.

Thankful.

These last couple of days I have been just down right thankful..

Thankful for my family, friends, boyfriend, opportunities, good health, the gospel, school, and everything in between.
I never really knew what grade I wanted to teach, and just thinking about it stressed me out. There is no doubt in my mind God led me to the school/grade/class/ and most definitely the kids that I teach. When I walked in that 2nd grade classroom, I just knew that it was the perfect fit.. I love those 2nd graders with all my heart.. It's crazy the feeling you get when you just "know".

Thankful.

Christmas Break!

Christmas Break came and went!
It honestly feels like the break lasted a good 4 days. I was hoping to go to Vegas for Christmas and watch Shania perform...Unfortunately, that didn't happen. There is always Spring Break right? My fingers are crossed!

Soooo right before break I had to teach my final lesson for the 2 year old class. I taught "There was an old lady who swallowed a fly" The kids loved it. This semester once again, I fell in love with those kids. I am so thrilled to one day have a classroom of my own, and spend a year with the same students, instead of switching every semester! This semester I teach the 4 year olds! I'm way excited about teaching them, even though my 2 year olds were seriously adorable!
Sooo Mitch and I took our Natural Disaster Finals, and decided to kick off our Christmas Break and go to a Jazz Game! It was super fun! It was a complete last minute idea( like literately 10 minute prep time) so excuse my crazy/frizzy/physco hair in the picture!!

I am honestly so greatful for this guy. I struggle BIG TIME in Math, thankfully we had Math together this last semester. Mitch spent so much time throughout the year, trying to get me to understand math, especially the week before break for finals! He is so smart and great at math, which I'm totally jealous of! I am so glad he was such an amazing tutor, and thank heavens passed my math class! Since we were doing math for weeks on end...we didn't have time to watch all our my reality shows... So we celebrated and watched a tooon of  all our  my reality shows all night. It was great.

Okay, so if you are a girl reading this... you probably will know what I will mean. Call me crazy... But I always have all these cute ideas to do with my boyfriend around special times. Holidays especially. Maybe I am just completely cheesy, or crazy. Or a little of both haha. During the break,  I thought we could cross a couple Christmas fun activities off the list! We went to Temple Square, to look at the lights. It was freezing! We ran into Mitch's brother, sister in law, and nephew which was pretty cool! After taking a million pictures in front of pretty lights (which I loved)... we then went to the amazing  Olive Garden to finish up our date! I seriously love that place.
.
My friends were having a little cheesy Christmas Party, I love this picture of Lauren and I ( and my hilarious big Minie mouse bow!) I hardly ever see this girl any more!! So it's great to be reunited with her!
First off, Mitch and I have never really made ginger bread houses before... embarrassing. Yes I know. So like I mentioned above..it would be so fun to do that together (since this is our first time, doing this "Christmas thing" together.) Mitch started off making a great ginger bread house...but his fell and broke, and before I got a picture, It was eaten! Right when the picture was about to be taken my roof caved in, and I was devastated! Worst timing ever! Thankfully, it's hardly noticeable through a picture! So this picture below is totally my product.... even though SOMEONE is claiming it as his as well ;)
Christmas was so fun! I was so excited to spend Christmas with Mitch and my fambam! My family opened presents that morning...and then I skyped with Julie for a bit! Then Mitch came over and we opened presents, and then we met my family for dinner, and then went to his house and watched some Christmas show! Okay this boy, spoiled me on Christmas. I seriously couldn't believe all the fun stuff I got. He somehow found out the girl who does my hair, tracked her down, and go me a gift card there! Also, I got a way nice ring...which  I LOVE, and so much other stuff... I was the worst Christmas shopper for him...all he got was a million pairs of clothes, and cologne.. I could not think of anything other then clothes. My brian was dead.
On Christmas day my family went to.....wait for it... Denny's ;) No one wanted to cook, and that was the only place open, being such a last minute decision...so off we went to Denny's. My grandparents dress up for every holiday, so they HAD TO be Santa and an elf for Christmas! My Grandparents/Aunt/Uncle/Cousin/Cousin's Girl friend/ My brother/ Mom/ and Mitch all had Christmas Dinner together there. This is the first time I haven't seen Julie during Christmas in 19 years.  I miss that crazy girl terribly. Here is a picture of my cute Grandparents!

My mom, brother, Uncle, and I went snowmobiling the following Saturday! I love Snowmobiling, but it also scares me way to much. The snow was ridiculously high, I thought I was going to die the whole ride, and yelled my brains out.  That pretty much summed up my snowmobiling experience.
Sooo since I misses my adorable girl friends, we all decided we needed to get together weekly and do dinner or something fun! This is our 4th week, and I love the idea. I think it is so nice to just chat about the craziest weirdest things. I am so thankful we do this now every week, and so thankful for these girls.

I also went down to Provo to see some friends for the day! These girls are such great examples to me. Tare and I met when I lived in Missouri, and came out to BYU. Mckenzie and Kelsey I met in Texas, and came to BYU and Janessa I met in Texas also, and lives in Sandy! It is crazy to me how we have all just kept in touch and live in the same state! It's always so fun reuniting with all these pretty girls! Most of these girls will be leaving pretty soon to serve the Lord! As much as I will miss their faces off while they are gone, I am so proud that they are doing what the think is best for them to do!
Mitch and I ended our break by watching the Jazz play! We went with his brother and his wife! It was
a fun time for sure!

Now it's time to somehow focus back on reality. Last semester I took 18 credits, and swore I would never do it again. Well this semester I somehow crazily decided to take 19 credits....Hopefully this crazy semester will all go fast! This is only week 2 and I feel like the semester should be over by now! So thats my break in a nutshell.
...
On a side note! One year ago from today was when I met Mitch!! I can go on and on about how thankful I am to have such a good example of a boyfriend! But, I'll save that for another blog post!
...
Also, I finally decided what grade I am going to be student teaching!.....Here we go.
2ND GRADE. THAT'S RIGHT.
Tomorrow is when I start! Wish me luck!

4 months.

Well the semester is over..
There has been so many ups and downs this semester, there is no possible way I can blog about the last 4 months in great detail. However, there has been one constant incident in my life that keeps reappearing. "Growing up". Time and time again, I have been faced with crazy situations, that I had 2 choices. A. I could go lay in bed and cry because the situation is crazy. or B. I can trrrrrrrryyy real hard to keep pushing through. Even though tons of times I have been a crying baby, I can really tell I have been pushing through. I have never had more stress in my life. I have never prayed so hard in my life. I have never wanted things so bad in my life. With all those things being pushed into a little 4 month period you really find out a ton about yourself, your character, your values, beliefs.

It is crazy for me to take in this semester. To think what I have been through from August until now still blows me away. It seems like years, but in reality it was only 4 months. I know I have grown up so much the last 4 months, and have handled situations better then I ever thought I could. I know this was because I had my Heavenly Father by my side helping me along the way, helping me grow up, helping me forgive, and helping me push on. I am so thankful for the courage he has given me and the strength to keep going.

Well HI THERE school.

Today is the last day of summer...

It is so hard to accept, and comprehend. I guess I'll be comprehending it pretty well tomorrow when I wake up early to head off to school. I have never liked school, and I have been extremely envious of all the kids who just die hard love school. However, after thinking about the "positives" of going back to school..I came up with a couple. So here we go.

A. At least I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to college.
B. I know I am making the right decision by going to college.
C. I guess my brain will get more wrinkles and I'll get smarter.
D. I'm sure I will grow up a ton.

Last year at this time, I was scared to death to start my first year at Weber. I had NO IDEA what the whole "college experience" was like... I was so nervous, to say the least.
This year even though it will be my second year, I will be starting a new college. Even though I know SLCC is where I need to go right now, I am already dreading the long drive there and back. I honestly can't imagine driving like an hour to and from school.  I am also dreading the "unknown" After a semester of Weber, I could tell you where everything was in that campus. Now..it's just like starting over again. And I'm not a big fan of that...at all.

I am also not a big fan of accepting that my summer is O.V.E.R... Like seriously? This summer has gone by soo fast. I feel like this summer has been one of my favorites for many reasons. First off, I traveled a tooon. I went to NYC...which was fabulous. Then went on a cruise, visited Hatti, Puerto Rico, St. Maartin, and another island. Then went back to NYC. Flew to Utah on birthday..Then flew to Kansas City saw the Kansas city temple (which totally looks like a mini SLC temple-SO pretty!), visited family in Warnsburg, and then drove back home to the lovely Springfield Missouri! Where I spent a week laughing to death with Julie.. I love traveling. But traveling would not have been so great, if I didn't have my family by my side. We all bonded so much this summer, and I love it.

Throughout this summer, I did have some trials, some hard times, and issues that bothered me quite a bit that I had to try to work through. My testimony of prayers have strengthened even more this summer, and my testimony of the love that my Heavenly Father has for me and all his children. It is so comforting to know that throughout this semester as stressful as it will be, I can always turn to my Heavenly Father.

Side Note: I have had a stinken awful sinus infection for almost 2 weeks now. I was hoping it would go away before school...tomorrow. But obviously not... hahha. I guess I'l be blowing my nose every 3 seconds tomorrow.. What a good first impression :)
